Call upon me in the day of trouble; I shall rescue you, and you will honor me. Psalm 50:15
Because of my love for you, O God, I sought your help and you delivered me. Because I rely on your reputation, you set me securely in a place of refuge. As I walked through the valley of the shadow of death, you were with me. In every trouble you have been present. There is no deity like you. You alone exert yourself energetically for those who call on you, for those who wait patiently for you in every situation. Indeed, you have earnestly desire me to approach your throne for mercy and helpful grace when I need it. In your mercy you have stooped to my weakness; graciously, tenderly, patiently supplying the wisdom and power I lack, so I could pursue your desires for my life. Your Spirit even augmented my prayers with intensely fervent groanings of his own, having felt the deepest desires of my heart and matched them to yours. The fruit of loving, joyful, obedience burst forth on the branch of my life, a fitting tribute to your gracious work. Because of Jesus you forgive my sin, restore our fellowship, enable my humility, overcome my timidity, and give me the gifts I need for ministry, when I call out to you. Your answers are always more than generous, more than faithful, more than I ever imagine I’ll need. How satisfying it is to behold your salvation as you draw me nearer and nearer through the mercy and grace that flow from your hand as I draw near to you in prayer! Forever amen.
