Jesus the Nazarene, a man clearly attested to you by God with powerful deeds, wonders, and miraculous signs that God performed among you through him, … was handed over by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you executed by nailing him to a cross at the hands of Gentiles. But God raised him up, having released him from the pains of death, because it was not possible for him to be held in its power. Acts 2:22–24
O God, your timing was, as always, right.
Your plan, conceived so wisely long ago,
Unfolded with precision, and in spite
Of all the opposition from your foe,
Who caused “How long?” to echo through the years.
Dismay, despair, defeat, distrust, denial, death
All crushed our hearts and overflowed in tears
Of gnawing grief that tortured every breath.
But when the time was right you sent your Son
To manifest your gracious love for us,
Appease your anger at our rebellion,
And bring us home as heirs, victorious.
Today we celebrate a plan well done!
We live today because you raised your Son!
Thankful and blessed.
