Guidance #8—Praising Guidance

If you give yourself to the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then your light will rise in darkness, and your gloom like midday. And the Lord will continually guide you, and satisfy your desire in scorched places. Isaiah 58:11

Faithful Father, you have made it so clear how you want me to live. You have shown me your glory through your grace, and you have told me of the joy I will find as I graciously extend this goodness to others. I know you know me well, for you compensate for my limitations and gently nudge me to keep me walking along the path of life toward the all-satisfying pleasure of eternity with you. Even when I am dull of hearing, you do what is necessary to wake me up and get my attention focused on you again. I am so well known to you that you counsel me with your eye on me just in case I stray from your path. You use your Spirit, the written words of Scripture, and the emotionally intense encounters with fellow believers to guide the changes in my life. How comforting it is to be certain of your careful concern. How encouraging it is to have such wisdom and insight close at hand, so I won’t walk into Satan’s traps. The riches of your kindness, forbearance and patience in Christ lead me to repentance. The promises guaranteed in him lead me to faith. The answers to prayer in his name lead me to continue to follow your life-giving, joy-producing guidance. How wonderful to be his disciple! Amen.
