He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your judgment as the noonday. Therefore rest in the Eternal and wait patiently for him. Psalm 37:6
O wise and gracious God, every moment of my life comes from you. You have woven the tapestry of my days with infinite care and skill. The colors of my life are not a wash of random hues, but a precise pattern of contrasting and complementary living threads. Sometimes it seems that some of the colors will ruin the final product. So I look at some of the other beautiful lives you have woven and my willingness to wait returns. In the righteousness of faith I wait for you to fulfill your promises. I rest securely on these promises. So my patience is my praise of you. I want you to know that I trust you to do good to me with all your heart and soul. I want you to know that I trust you to cause all things to work together for good. I want you to know that I rely on you to turn stumbling blocks into stepping stones. So I rest in you and respond to problems by extending the grace you have given me to my antagonists. I rest in you and avoid pursuing other, less adequate, sources of joy. Lord, you have been patient with me. You keep allowing me time to repent, to experience more of your mercy and grace. As I learn to trust you more and more, may the Spirit bring about longsuffering and patience in me. Amen.
