Thanksgiving Sonnet 2012

To help us express the joy of our gratitude for the joy of God’s grace, this year’s sonnetic prayer restates the praises of Psalm 136

To you, O God, we lift a grateful voice;
For floods of goodness pour forth from your throne,
Immersing us in reasons to rejoice,
In words and deeds that point to you alone:
The fullness of the earth deserves our praise;
The heavens are awash with rare delights:
You set the glorious sun to rule our days
And splashed the moon and stars across our nights.
You’ve rescued us from deep and dark distress,
For your abundant kindness never ends;
The ocean of our food seems bottomless,
For your abundant kindness never ends;
So waves of thanks from grateful hearts progress,
For your abundant kindness never ends.
