In the midst of memories of a seemingly contingent catastrophe, I think it would be wise to remember other 9/11s; ones that remind us of the gracious certainties of our sovereign Creator.
Genesis 9/11 God said, “I establish my covenant with you: never again shall all flesh be cut off by the water of the flood, neither shall there again be a flood to destroy the earth.”
Romans 9/11 Though Jacob and Esau were not yet born and had not done anything good or bad, so that God’s purpose according to election would stand — not because of works but because of him who calls — it was said to her, “The older will serve the younger.”
We renew our hope in human beings by remembering heroism in the face of terrorism. More importantly, we renew our hope for life by celebrating the glorious deeds of our God (Psalm 9/11).
