God has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of David his servant … to grant us that we, being delivered from the hand of our enemies, might serve him without fear, in dedication and righteousness before him all our days. Luke 1:69–75
Free from fear! Every day, free from fear! Jesus is the one who frees us from fear. Because of Jesus we need not fear the wrath of God. We need not fear what evil people can do to us. We need not fear diseases of the body or mind. We need not fear natural catastrophes. We need not fear the mistakes of our own finitude. He will deliver us from them all. When in Christ we are more than conquerors, we can serve God in holiness; we can be completely dedicated to the One who saved us through Jesus. He delivers us in order that we might live under his lordship in a way that honors him, in a way that demonstrates the superiority of his rule and administration. As our Eternal King, he works for those who hope in him. When by faith we obey only his commands, his benefits expand to fill his kingdom and no one can take these away. Such service is not only holy and right, but exceedingly joyful.
Lord Jesus, thank you for creating an environment in which we can live free from fear. By the power of your Spirit cause my faith to work itself out in holy love for all I meet.
