The Eternal has comforted his people. He has redeemed Jerusalem. The Eternal has bared his holy arm In the sight of all the nations, that all the ends of the earth may see the salvation of our God. Isaiah 52:9-10
On a hill far away, on an old, rugged cross, you comforted me, O God. In full view of the nations of earth, the Lamb of God propitiated the wrath of God toward the sin of his brothers and sisters from every tribe and tongue and people and nation. I may not have felt comforted at the time, but when I realized what you did in Jesus’ life, death and resurrection, when I realized how wonderful my fellowship with you would be through my relationship with him, my soul was restored and joy filled my heart. Now, in Jesus’ name you continually display your holy strength on my behalf, delivering me daily from the attacks of Satan, taking away my fear of any lasting harm he can do. Your peace and well-being give me courage to continue to fight the fight of faith. “Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. You are with me and your rod and your staff comfort me.” For I know that the “holy arm” that rescued me from your wrath will defend and protect and sustain me until my salvation is completed when Jesus returns in the sight of all the nations. O holy Comforter, the river of your peace flows alongside my path. It is well with my soul. Amen.
