“Behold, the days are coming,” declares The Eternal “When I shall raise up for David a righteous Branch. He will rule as king and act wisely, doing justice and righteousness in the land.” Jeremiah 23:5
So often, O Lord, I celebrate your mighty acts, but today your wisdom fills my soul. In the fullness of time you left your throne and the glory of Heaven to take on human flesh so I could have both a redeemer and a role model. You showed me how one made in the image of God could display your glory by a life of faith. You glorified him fully by giving your life to deliver me from the kingdom of darkness and transfer me into the kingdom of light. What wonderful love that moved you to use your wisdom to work out a way to remain righteous while you justified the ungodly. Now I anticipate your return and the establishment of your rule here on earth. What a joy to look forward to integrity and honor in high places! What a pleasure to consider that disagreements will be resolved graciously! What a delight to think that every aspect of our society can be openly oriented to the experience of God’s grace! For by your wise rule, you will make it so. Now to him who is able to establish me according to the gospel—the preaching of Jesus Christ—to the only wise God, through you, O Christ, be glory forever. Amen.
